Located in the western United States, Utah was the 45th state added to the Union in 1896. The 31st-most populous state with 3.1 million residents, Utah has most of its population located in two general areas of the state; the Wasatch Front in the northern area of the state with about 2.5 million people, and Washington County in Southern Utah, with more than 160,000 people.
The state is bordered in the east by Colorado, in the north by Idaho, in the south by Arizona and Nevada to the west.
Utah has a large percentage of members of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints, with approximately 62% of residents identifying as members. The state is known as a transportation, education and information technology/research center.
It is also a tourist destination for outdoor sports and recreation. Utah was also recognized as the second-fastest growing state in the U.S. as well as having the 14th highest median average income.
