Begun as a British colony by James Oglethorpe in 1733, Georgia is known as the last and southernmost of the original 13 colonies. The state was named after King George II of Great Britain and was the fourth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution in 1788. The Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office encourages filing within the State, resulting in significant film and television projects being filmed in Georgia, including The Walking Dead, Stranger Things, Forrest Gump, Hidden Figures, Captain America, The Hunger Games and Black Panther.

Regarding sales tax on gold and silver, according to § 48-8-3 of the Georgia Code, "sales of gold, silver, or platinum bullion or any combination of such bullion is currently exempt from sales taxation…sales of coins or currency or a combination of coins and currency are also exempt from sales taxation.
