AK Steel Dearborn Works to shut down 3 production facilities; 343 jobs will be affected
Pressandguide - Nearly 350 jobs will be affected by a decision to permanently close down three production facilities at AK Steel Dearborn Works. The decision was made by AK Steel's parent company Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.
The plant is shutting down its hot strip mill, annealing and tempering operations at the Dearborn location, effective July 5, and 343 jobs will be affected, according to a notification filed with the state by AK Steel Corp. General Manager of Labor Relations James Dyckman.
Dyckman cited “rapidly deteriorating business conditions” for the decision.
